The world is changing and so does the way we handle our cybersecurity issues. Securing our systems has become so advanced such that people without knowledge about the security of various systems are finding it hard to survive in a technological world that is changing on a daily basis. Hackers are becoming more advanced in their undertakings such that they are jeopardizing our current security systems. It is assumed that we have sufficiently countered the harmful effects of cyber criminals and that we are safe from cyber-attacks. However, it is expected that hackers will gain knowledge and have the means to counter the current security systems

Quantum Computers

In the next few years, the world of computer technology is expecting computers that store data in the form of subatomic particles. These are advanced computers that use high-end systems which can override any security systems that people have incorporated into their systems. Recent research studies indicate that in the next five years, hackers will be using quantum computers. This means that the current security methods will be null and void because quantum computers can easily override any encryption method that you have used to secure your system.

Simple computer functions such as sharing a file will be very vulnerable to infiltration by hackers using these advanced computers with sophisticated systems that cannot recognize any algorithm used in developed security passwords for our computers and even their servers. So what does this mean for our computer systems and other technological devices? Well, as hacking techniques advance, so does the methods of securing our information systems. More sophisticated ways that will provide layers of passwords and authentication procedures will come into place. For example, it is assumed that the current most secure system, blockchain technology, will be prone to cyber-attacks emanating from hackers using quantum computers.

What is Lattice Cryptography?

Lattice cryptography is a more advanced system of algorithms that will be used to develop security measures that can counter the effect of cyber-attacks emanating from hackers using quantum computers. Lattice cryptography uses algebraic structures that are so complex and advanced such that it will be challenging to breach it. It is common knowledge that cryptocurrencies use two prime numbers in the development of their security system which is yet to be infringed but is said to be under threat in the next few years. Lattice cryptography is using hundreds of prime numbers and algebraic structures that have never been seen before.

We have reached a point where very sensitive information is being collected and stored online by various agencies. Government bodies have very sensitive information about their population, health data of the country, and essential and confidential information about military personnel and weaponry. All this needs to be protected with security systems that are foolproof. If technology does not keep pace with some of the emerging threats and power of hackers, even these sensitive information in government and private quarters will be infiltrated. Lattice cryptography is the only hope of the developing cyber crimes because it is based on quantum computers.

Why Lattice Cryptography?

Lattice cryptography offers the only hope for secure systems because it is based on quantum computers. It is also advanced such that it matches and exceeds threats posed by hackers using quantum systems. Moreover, lattice cryptography cannot be overrun by threats incoming from quantum computers unlike other methods such as blockchain systems that will be soon vulnerable to quantum threats. Majority of the systems currently providing security for much of the data are based on a conventional computer that has consistently failed to detect and counter risks posed by hackers.

Despite providing security for the worst case scenario, lattice systems will be so efficient in their activities offering one of the best alternatives to cybersecurity. Lattice systems will also be faster which will enable them to detect and counter cyber threats in real time. Nevertheless, there seem to be low rates of lattice cryptography adoption because hackers are yet to start using quantum computers that will change the whole security dynamics.
