Marketplace is a radio program that focuses on business, the economy, and events that influence them. Hosted by Kai Ryssdal, the show is produced and distributed by American Public Media, in association with the University of Southern California. With a weekly audience of more than eight million, Marketplace is the most popular business program in America’more popular than those of CNBC, Bloomberg or Nightly Business Report. Marketplace began in 1989, created by Jim Russell. Marketplace is produced in Los Angeles with bureaus in New York; Washington, D.C.; Portland, Oregon; Baltimore, Maryland; London; and Shanghai. It won a Peabody Award in 2000.
