Job Title: Data Engineer
School/Unit: IT Services
Location of Post: Scotland
Working Arrangement: Hybrid 2-3 days a week in Office
Working Hours: Full-time/36.25 hours per week
Grade/Salary Range: Grade 7, 45,000- 55,000 per annum
Main Purpose of Role:
Manage and develop the Data Warehouse, including ETL processes, ensuring it meets technological and business needs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain ETL processes and Oracle SQL/PLSQL procedures.
- Resolve data issues and plan solutions with stakeholders.
- Gather data requirements and provide implementation plans.
- Recommend improvements for the Data Warehouse.
- Maintain tools like the data catalogue and train colleagues on data techniques.
- Document changes and participate in relevant committees.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders and manage vendor relations.
- Undertake line management and deputise for line managers as needed.
Person Specification
- Experience & Knowledge:
- Proven expertise in data warehouse management and ETL tools.
- Strong skills in SQL, PL/SQL, and database technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based data solutions and SaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with data security principles and GDPR compliance.
- Working knowledge of APIs, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy), and systems integration.

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Effective time management and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Experience in change management within an enterprise environment.
