We are currently seeking a Control Systems Software Engineer. This is a permanent role, based within Stafford with 2 days working from home.
This role operates within core hours of 9:30am to 3:00pm. As long as you work during these hours and complete 37.5 hours per week, you have the flexibility to choose your start and finish times.

Summary of the Role:
An exciting opportunity is available for enthusiastic and experienced engineers to join the existing Energy team, responsible for all aspects of software design, development, and implementation for PLC-based control and/or SCADA systems. The role will require the successful candidate to work within a team on all stages of the project lifecycle, delivering PLC and SCADA/DCS systems primarily for the renewable power generation and storage industry. Projects include system upgrades to the latest versions, modifications for extensions and improvements, as well as new build projects. The ideal candidate will have proven mainstream control automation experience across several projects utilizing the technology platforms listed below.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 2 years experience using at least one of the following technologies:-
- Siemens PCS7 Automation Stations
- Siemens TIA Portal for S7 PLCs
- Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix utilising Studio 5000
- Schneider M580/M340 utilising EcoStruxure Control Expert
- Minimum 2 years experience /Advanced SCADA Configuration skills using at least one of the following applications: –
- Siemens PCS7 OS
- COPA-DATA Zenon
- Siemens WinCC
- Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
- Codra Panorama
- Experience of producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications and Test Specifications
- Experience of writing software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
- Experience of performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
- Knowledge of project lifecycle working to QA procedures
- Willingness to travel and work away when required
- Full UK Driving licence
Desirable Requirements/experience:
- Experience of communication protocols including:-
- Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3 etc
- Experience of virtualisation utilising VMWare or HyperV
- Experience Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Domain Configuration
- Experience of Network Switch and Firewall Configuration
- Experience of simulation software e.g. SIMIT/ PICS/WinMOD
- Experience of renewable power generation control systems
- Experience of site work/commissioning automation control systems
- Experience of Legacy PLCs/software e.g. Rockwell RSLogix5, 500 or 5000, Schneider Unity Pro/Concept, Siemens Step 7.
