Job Summary:
NRG is seeking a Sr. Analyst, Business Intelligence to join its Retail Business Intelligence team to strengthen the BI capabilities of NRG Retail. The position requires 10+ years data management, modelling and BI experience. The successful candidate will possess a strong data modeling and data visualization background. The candidate should have a demonstrable record of being able to interact effectively with business stakeholders in all functional areas to gather and understand business requirements and reporting needs.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Interact with functional business units to analyze, gather and prioritize business and reporting requirements
- Partner with the D&A leaders and teams to manage the key data processes, tools, and architectures needed to deliver confidence in regular reports.
- Collaborate with Corporate D&A Team to implement data management, data quality best practices and standards
- Partner with business leaders to develop, monitor, and report on marketing tests for new or enhanced products and campaigns
- Hands on development of data models in Oracle and data visualizations.
- Formulate and provide status updates on project plans and schedules to meet goals/objectives
- Ensure data architecture supports existing and future requirements of evolving business model
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Create and maintain documentation for each step in the data lifecycle
- Lead development and maintenance of operational dashboard and executive-level reporting using tools like Tableau, Spotfire or PowerBI
- Monitor and stay abreast of key developments in BI industry
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid work schedule: a combination of working remotely from home and 1-2 days a week in the office
- Some overtime required as special projects arise or daily operations dictate
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related discipline/experience.
- Hands on experience in SQL a must.
- 10+ years working in business intelligence and data analysis
- Expertise in SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Computer Science/Data Analytics/MIS is a plus
- Expert proficiency in Python and SQL
- Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases
- Must possess deep expertise with OLAP design, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and data quality
- Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau / Spotfire /Power BI
- Gas or power industry experience with knowledge of the retail electricity market.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
- Ability to lead and mentor analysts, maintaining attention to detail regarding analysis and reported results
- Strong organizational skills and comfort interacting with different lines of business, IT and senior management
- Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions, and translate into actionable items
