We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join STI Ltd as Head of Engineering, based at our manufacturing site in Hook. This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis.
Our Engineering function covers the end to end to end processing at our manufacturing site in Hook.
As the Head of Engineering, you will develop, implement and drive engineering strategy according to Company goals and objectives, aiming to accelerate efficiency and growth.
You will manage the Engineering department to meet the needs of the business. The function includes Planning Engineering, NPI Engineering, Production Engineering, Process Engineering and Industrial/Systems Engineering.
The Head of Engineering role will involve:
- Provide Engineering leadership to a team of multiskilled staff in diverse functions.
- Assess and improve existing systems and processes to improve engineering productivity
- Promote and present STI’s technical capabilities to major, blue chip customers up to and including Director level
- Produce a technology roadmap to meet the current and future needs of the business. Anticipate and understand new technical challenges. Identify spend-to-save processes
- Provide guidance and direction to the Production Engineers in the course of technical investigations
- Ensure that production readiness is at the heart of all engineering activity.
- Provide technical support for each product throughout its planning, manufacture and delivery
- Understand the Company KPI’s. In conjunction with the other Managers, ensure that metrics are continuously reviewed and that corrective/preventative actions are undertaken.
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement activities in areas such as productivity, cost, quality, process control, training, work instructions, operator awareness, tooling, wastage, etc.
- Take the lead in the specification and commissioning of new equipment and processes. Ensure that each item of production equipment has dedicated engineering support, preventative maintenance plans, operating instructions, process control measures and a spares policy.
- Be conversant with Industry 4.0 and how it applies to the Company.
As Head of Engineering, you will need:
- Proven engineering background in a CEM environment with a bias toward PCBA
- Demonstrate that you have successfully operated at an executive level
- Proven ability to develop a strong engineering team
- Degree qualified or equivalent
- Ability to communicate, present and influence at all levels of the organisation
- Be articulate, creative and possess excellent organisational abilities
- Strong listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with Siemens SMT and associated integration tools ( BOM Connect / Valor)
