Head of Engineering – Streaming Company

Permanent Role, Hybrid (2-3x a week in office)

  • Up to 120,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits

We are partnered with a leading player in the streaming space in their search for an experienced Head of Engineering. This senior leadership role will be integral to shaping and enhancing their engineering capabilities across multiple teams, ensuring that technical innovation and operational excellence are at the forefront of their streaming platform.

The ideal candidate will have experience in senior leadership roles, placing a focus on people management and culture for a moderate team size (up to 50 engineers) and will be responsible for driving engineering strategy, ensuring scalable and resilient software solutions, and leading a high-performance engineering culture.

Role Purpose:

  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams within the streaming and media domain.
  • Lead career development programmes, focusing on skill development and productivity within a moderately sized team.
  • Align engineering strategy with business goals to support the growth and scalability of their platforms.
  • Champion best engineering practices, including DevOps, Agile methodologies, and cloud technologies.
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, QA, and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior engineering staff, ensuring career progression and technical excellence.
  • Drive the engineering vision and strategy for a leading streaming platform, ensuring alignment with the broader business objectives.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and team composition to build a world-class engineering team.
  • Optimize the software development and delivery pipeline to maintain high standards of scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and QA teams to ensure the platform meets the highest standards of quality and functionality.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring high productivity and quality output.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles, managing a moderate (up to 50 engineers) team size
  • Strong technical background with expertise in cloud services (AWS serverless technology stack), infrastructure as code, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience in driving Agile, DevOps, and continuous integration/delivery processes within engineering teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with large-scale digital platforms and ensuring their scalability, reliability, and performance.
