Braid Technologies AI (London) Founding Software Engineer

Braid Technologies powers up AI teams to deliver innovation faster. We are developing an enterprise-grade AI studio to help clients prototype, build, and accelerate their own AI-driven use cases.

Braid was founded by three former senior executives from a global consulting & technology organisation. We work with large enterprises (FTSE100 / S&P500), are already working with a charter client, and have a strong client pipeline for the new year. We partner with hyper-scalers and are members of the Microsoft and Google startup programs.

Our focus areas aim to drive rapid AI engineering in our client base:

  • Templates for enterprise use cases, such as knowledge assistants supplemented with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and dynamic search and classification workflows.
  • Technology assets, such as AI-driven test code generation, code-base explorers, design assistants and agents.
  • Enterprise automation and multi-modal applications.

We use modern enterprise methods (Scaled Agile, AI Engineering, Design Thinking) and tools (Confluence, JIRA, GitHub) to manage our work.

You will contribute to building tools that drive speed and productivity for AI teams in large enterprises, with a focus on the backend (ML, LLM, and APIs) but extending across the entire stack so we can deliver a complete experience for our clients.

You will be joining a growing team at a seed stage start-up, with great freedom to develop your role and skills. You will have the opportunity to influence our strategy, and to grow your career and the company.

You must be London based for proximity with Founders. Hybrid work, mostly remote, with travel from time to time to client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary – build and enhance backend services using Python to deliver AI workflows, including designing APIs, calling APIs across the entire LLM stack, and managing background tasks.
  • Secondary – develop and maintain full stack applications using React, Typescript, cloud-databases, Unix scripts and more. The whole stack.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve AI evaluation frameworks, allowing teams to assess model performance and scalability effectively.
  • Integrate work & documentation into Braids development repository to enterprise quality.
  • Collaborate closely with client companies to integrate Braid work products into their environment, providing technical guidance and support where needed.

Requirements:

  • 2 years or more of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality software products in a team environment, and a passion for building a career in technology innovation.
  • Technical:
  1. Primary – Proficiency in backend development with Python, with hands-on experience in building and deploying complex applications.
  2. Secondary experience in at least one other technology, such as building and consuming APIs using Node.js, Typescript, and React, or developing build & deployment pipelines with Unix or Cloud scripting languages.
  3. An aspiration to gain multiple skills across the full AI-engineering landscape. We want you to grow into a multi-skilled, full-stack, AI engineer, and we want your active engagement in this journey.
  • Demonstrated ability to architect and build complex software systems, solving problems related to scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning, and interest in working on open-ended problems, with an agile and innovative approach to finding solutions. You will need the demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Skills or at least strong interest in Design Thinking / Innovation techniques.
  • Confident communication skills in person, over video, in email, and in technical documentation and discussion.
