Our growing Academic Partnerships team is looking for customer-focused data scientist to collaborate with researchers, scientists and stakeholders on machine learning based innovations. This role is dedicated to creating innovations, actionable machine learning solutions, and analytics designed to fuel UHG growth, solve challenges in unique ways and to support our commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion. Primary Responsibilities:
- Data profiling and mapping
- Deep data analysis and research of healthcare data and other data sets including description, exploratory, correlation, inferential
- Aggregate and transform raw data coming from a variety of data sources to fulfil the functional & non-functional business needs
- Quality Assurance, ensuring strict data quality
- Use appropriate data engineering techniques for sampling, data preparation, analytic and statistical methodology
- Self-drive knowledge accumulation of methods and modeling advances by reading research publications, blogs and attending presentations and webinars
- Support needs around data analytics, predictive modeling, and business intelligence
- Communicate findings, verbally and visually, to business partners and clients
This is a full-time role that:

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or 2+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
- 2+ years of progressive hands-on data engineering experience
- 2+ years of combined experience with ETL and/or Database technologies
- 2+ years of experience with Public Cloud such as Azure (Preferred)
- Proficiency in SQL and complex queries
- Experience working in Agile environment
- Experience with production operational support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in consuming data from platforms such as Web APIs, Kafka, and public sites
- Experienced in consuming data from flat files from other Cloud environment
- Experience working with teams that leveraged the following: continuous integration / continuous delivery tools, serverless architecture, containerization, public / private cloud, data pipelines, multi-source extraction
- Solid understanding of software engineering and processes: design patterns, algorithms, data structures, schemas and queries, system design, unit testing, code reviews, agile, and dev-ops
- Solid understanding of data science techniques including machine learning and deep learning
- Experience with CI/CD with Jenkins pipelines or similar, particularly with regards to data infrastructure
- Healthcare domain background

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900.
