TransMetrics is a new big data startup from Europe and they focus solely on the 5.4 trillion transport and logistics industry. It is a Bulgarian startup that received seeding funding from the European LAUNCHHub Fund to accelerate their business and prepare for public launch. Currently TransMetrics is in closed Beta.
TransMetrics brings big data to the transport and logistics industry to improve capacity optimization, reduce costs and reduce CO2 emission. The predictive analytics software that they are developing, and which will be available as a Software-as-a-Service product, will help transport companies predict shipping volumes. The software learns from past shipping histories and use external forecasts to make these predictions.
On their website they claim that transport network, be it trucks, planes, trains or ships, remain unused for on average 40%. Therefore they have developed this game-like simulation product that will enable network managers to gain a few percentage extra capacity utilization, which could result in millions of savings.
TransMetrics was founded early 2013 by Asparuh Koev, CEO, Anna Shaposhnikova, CCO, Rado Nikolov, CTO, and Alexander Petkov, Head of Customer Implementations. The objective is to showcase their product in September and they currently work with one of the top 15 transport and logistics companies in the world to test the product. They have a strong management, backed with industry experience.
Although they have no patents (pending) for their predictive software, they might have found an interesting big data niche. They have not yet won any awards, but did reach the finals of Finalist of the earlier, transport organizations can save millions of dollars per year when successfully applying big data techniques on their massive amounts of data. They are in a very early stage but the prospects a good for them, assuming that they will be able to find additional funding to continue to expand rapidly in the coming months. Therefore we give them a 5 bits rating.
