EligoTech helps organisations to search, to discover and to analyse their data in an easy, fast and affordable way. They do this through their product called Harpoon, which was launched as a first version in Q3 2012. Harpoon is helping organisations using the capabilities of Hadoop together with other big data technologies without the need to have specific technical skills on Hadoop or other big data technologies. Users of Harpoon can aggregate, organise, search and analyse their data through a simple interface.

Harpoon can work with terabytes of data in any size to derive insights from your data. Users can use free-text search to find what they are looking for in any of their data. The User Interface is clean and simple to understand and use and EligoTech has provided an API to query the data in real-time without requiring programming skills. In addition to that, Harpoon includes simple visualizations that can clarify billions of records in one glimpse of an eye.

EligoTech was founded in 2012 by Michele Di Gangi & David Greco who know each other from working on technical projects at TomTom. EligoTech focuses on companies that want to increase productivity on extracting value out of their Big Data or that are looking to integrate Hadoop into their existing enterprise application landscape. Currently they are testing the application with two customers and they focus on the Banking, Insurance, Telco, Media and Retail industry. They do not yet have any patents (pending) or awards won.

Harpoon works on premises, can be installed on commodity hardware and can be accessed via the browser. They pay strong attention to security, so role-based access to Harpoon is in the pipeline. For many organisations installing and working with Hadoop can be a hassle, but EligoTech has found a way to simplify this. Therefore we give them a 6 bits rating.
