How Will the Internet of Things Evolve in the Next 100 Years?

We all know that predicting is very difficult, especially if you are talking about the future. However, that does not mean that it is not interesting, or fun, to have a peak at the different possibilities that lie ahead of us. One thing is for sure; the technological developments are moving so fast, that the Internet of the future, will be different from today’s Internet. WhoIsHostingThis tried to grasp all the possibilities of the Internet and make a prediction of what it will look like in the future.

According to us, the future of the Internet will be a bright one. A future where all devices are connected to the Internet. Trillions of connections will enable us to ‘talk’ to devices all over the world. Although we have just entered the Internet 3.0 phase, the technology is already being developed for Internet 4.0. This Internet is also called the ‘Intelligent Web‘ and is capable of reasoning and it will turn the Internet into the Internet of Everything.

The Internet of Everything will have a significant impact on our lives. In many cases it will make our lives easier and our work more efficient. However, it will also have a dramatic impact on certain industries. The effect of smart, self-driving cars, trucks, trains and other transportations will for example result in many jobs being lost. This will have a major impact on societies.

Apart from the impact on societies, the Internet of Everything will also require the highest levels of security measures. A hacked personal computer is a lot less harmful than a hacked car that gets out of control and has the potential to do a lot of damage. Therefore, more and better security measures are required for the Internet of the future. However, with the advancement of technology, it is likely that security will also become a lot better.

Predicting the future is difficult, but it does give us some idea where we are heading and this infographic gives us a great glimpse into the future of the Internet.
