GoSquared is a real-time analytics platform to monitor the online presence of a website. The simple to use and understand dashboard looks good and intuitive. It provides a user with an overview of the most important metrics of a website. Users can adjust the dashboard by adding or removing widgets.
Registering and installing the dashboard is very easy, especially because of the plugins they have created for the different content management systems such as WordPress or Joomla. Within a few minutes we were online and could try out the dashboard. The dashboard gives detailed information about visitors in a simple overview. In real-time it provides the location of a visitor, browser used, operating system used, screen size used, the name of the internet service provider being used and the amount of visits that user had paid. It looks sleek and the real-time information about the visitors on your website is nice to see.
Compared to the real-time analytics of Google Analytics it offers more features. They also have added awards, to earn more page views on a free account. However this did not seem to work instantly as adding a twitter account did not have any effect.
GoSquared looks really nice and the dashboard is very simple to work with. It was developed in 2006 by 3 high-school students, all at the age of 14 at that time. They have received a series A funding, but they do not want to reveal the details on the funding. This is a bit odd, especially because their direct competitor Chartbeat raised in total $ 13.5 million. They will have a tough competition from them, as well as the many other real-time analytics platforms that are appearing today.
GoSquared has not won any awards and they do not have any patents (pending). They do have however 25.000 customers from all over the world, which is rather impressive for a tool developed during high-school. Big Data startups therefore gives GoSquared a 5 bits rating.
