Flutura is a big data startup that focuses on deriving insights from M2M (Machine 2 Machine) data. They are capable of analysing raw data coming from sensors to find previously unknown patterns. Their complex algorithms and data models receive millions of signals from the sensors in any situation in real-time, process it and make sense of it in order to respond.
One of their products is Cerebra, which is a patent-pending M2M Analytics platform that finds patterns in vast amounts of machine data. Flutura not only focuses on oil & gas company, who of course have vast amounts of sensors in their equipment, but they also target the telecom, retail and energy industry as well as smart buildings.
Currently they have several customers, among others some Fortune 100 companies. Of course customers like these are used to generating vast amounts of data, but Flutura takes a different approach by combining the various data streams from the sensors and looking at the overall picture instead of to sensors one by one. This helps obtain a complete picture of what is going on.
Flutura was founded by three ex-Mindtree employees, Krishnan Raman, Srikanth Muralidhara and Derick Jose, where they dealt with big data projects. They have received seed funding from The Hive. The Hive India is anchored by the Patni family who are pioneers in the field of information technology in India. In their short lifespan, they were founded in beginning of 2012, they have already won several awards. Among others they won they were TechSpark Winners in 2013 and named top 20 most promising big data companies from CIO Review US.
M2M data is growing rapidly and expectations are that by 2020, 40% of all data will be M2M data. Being able to derive insights from that data can save organisations a lot of money. If they manage to continue their ambitious growth and innovative technique, they have a bright future. We therefore give them a 7 bits rating.
