Acunu is a pioneer in data analytics that enables users to build real-time monitoring and analytic applications with dashboards that provide live instant information from high-velocity data. It empowers users in various industries to know within milliseconds what is going on. From manufacturing, financial services, media to telecommunications, monitoring and controlling the environment becomes more important with the vast amounts of data that are created these days. Users need to be able to make instant decisions and for that real-time information from the data is required. Acunu provides this information.
Since 2013, Acunu is powered by Apache Cassandra giving the users answers to rich queries on any stream of events, such as log data, financial market data, call detail records, ad impressions or clicks. Cassandra enables Acunu to scale across many nodes and in addition Acunu fits well with Storm, MQ and other event frameworks.
Acunu Analytics can be a stand-alone or it can be embedded into dashboards. In addition, the applications can do the controlling and monitoring automatically via the API that has been developed by Acunu. Typical customers of Acunu are companies that need to make decisions immediately on a combination of fresh data (typically less than a second old) and historic data. This allows them to detect in real time, trends away from the historic norm, outliers, limits exceeded, top-k performers and many performance indicators.
The company was initially founded by Tim Moreton, a former PhD researcher at Cambridge University. The Analytics engine is based on a patented algorithm and several more patents are pending. Since the company started in 2009, they have received over $ 10 million in funding from some of Europes top venture capital firms, among others Imperial Innovations, Eden Ventures, Pentech Ventures and Oxford Technology Management.
With the growing amount of available data, real-time analytics is becoming more important for companies. Acunu has developed a great analytics platform that provides answers to queries in milliseconds and maintains its performance when the amount of data grows. Although they have not yet won any awards, we do believe that real-time analytics is the way forward and we see a bright future ahead of them. We therefore give them a 7 bits rating.
