What Big Data Could Have in Store for the Car Industry by the Year 2030

Intel Data Center GPU codenamed Crescent Island architectural slide showcasing Xe3P AI optimized GPU IP, up to 480GB LPDDR5x memory capacity, and a 350W air-cooled PCIe form factor.
Intel’s Crescent Island GPU targets AI inference economics by prioritizing massive LPDDR5x memory capacity over costly HBM architectures within a practical 350W air-cooled design.

For the past ten years, the car industry has been one of the biggest industries that has had the most beneficial technological advancements. The use of data in and outside the cars has been the a very significant technological improvement. With this technology, cars are safer, more user friendly and more efficient. Car manufacturers are always looking to improve their models and with big data, they are able to spring forward in their industry.

With the advancements of bluetooth, sensors, seats, trunks, screens and apps, big data has improved these new features even more. What customers are looking for is the bigger, better model and each car company is competing to come out with the features everyone wants. Whether its the Toyota Rav4 Hybrid or the 2017 Honda Civic, customers want fancier, flashier cars. Its the science of the car industry.

The question on both the manufacturer’s and the customers minds is, what is next? Customers, in any industry ask this question that puts pressure on the company but it also pushes the company to become bigger and better. Customers interest and loyalty is the reason car companies come out with new models every year. So, with the addition of big data and its technology, whats next for big data in the car industry?

Big Data Interior Tech

With big data, the interior of cars have become more technical. The console of a car used to have dials for the radio and air conditioning unit. Now, you can connect your phone, call, text, stream movies and television shows, and map out your route, all with a touch screen. So, what is next? In 15 years, technology can and will change tremendously.

Big data has been able to store medical information, in 15 years it could have the ability to remember the places you regularly go and the route you take.Since you can sync you phone to you car, big data can remember the orders you make and allow you to order from inside your car as you travel.

It gets tedious and wastes time having to get into the car and reset all the settings. Big data can shorten this time. It will allow the car to remember favorite temperatures, seating positions  and radio stations based on what the driver sets it at.  This allows the driver to be comfortable without having to take the time to reset all the settings.

Big Data Exterior Tech

The exterior of a car is often what draws customers to it. Big data technology doesnt do much towards the look of the car but it has a bigger part in the technology outside the car. Sensors have been built to alert the driver when someone gets too close. Within the next few years, these sensors will be able to use the cameras to record as people get too close, break in, or hit and run.

These sensors have just recently been able to start recording once the warning sensors start going off. With big data, these cameras will be able to call and send a picture of the person who broke in or the car that hit and ran, to the police even before the owner knows what happened.

Big data has created artificial traffic lights that can connect to each other and have the ability to turn when an emergency vehicle approaches. In 15 years, this technology can be used in everyday cars and other transportation vehicles. Big data will be able to alert other drivers of emergency vehicles, accidents and other traffic problems while giving an alternate route.

Within the last 15 years, cars have become safer and more technological. The car industry is one of the industries that has and will continue to grow. What is next is something that can be hard to predict but fun to try. The only people who truly know whats next are the car industries themselves. But as customers, we can dream. Whether we have flying cars or no cars at all, technology can change a lot in 15 years. Big data has been winning the race for the past ten years and is showing that they will continue to win the race for the next 15. The customers are waiting with wallets open for what is to come next.

I've been blessed to have a successful career and have recently taken a step back to pursue my passion of freelance writing. I love to write about new technologies and keeping ourselves secure in a changing digital landscape. I occasionally write articles for several companies, including Dell.
