Synop Systems, a German big data startup that launched in March 2012, has developed the Synop Analyzer. This big data tool delivers an all-in one “In-Memory-Data-Discovery and Performance Data Mining” software toolbox that will help organization understand their data. The tool provides auto classification, interactive data visualizations and several analyses such as multivariate data analysis, outlier analysis or correlation analysis.
The in-memory tool allows millions of records to be analysed in seconds and it combines several functionalities in one product that, traditionally, are covered by several packages. It allows for intuitive interactive multivariate data exploration and discovery using different data mining techniques. Synop Analyzer is able to perform pattern recognition, segmentation, classification, regression, (early) detection of errors, malfunctions and deviations.
Synop Systems was founded by Volker Marquardt and Dr. Ansgar Dorneich, a former software engineer at IBM Germany. They claim that with the Synop Analyzer it is possible to get results within minutes and that no scripting and programming skills are required except for connecting the Java API. Their goal is to make data analysis easy to understand for everyone, among others via the interactive visualizations.
Synop Systems focuses especially on E-Commerce, Online, Retail, Payment, Mobile, Fraud Detection and Data forensics. Their customers currently operate in automotive, retail, e-commerce, energy, production, payment industry, although their sales just started in 2013. They have no awards won yet, but they do hold several patents. In-memory data analysis will grow in importance in the coming years because of its benefits, therefore Synop Systems has the potential to grow their business within Germany and Europe in the coming years.
