Statilizer is a Dutch Big Data startup that offers social media analytics on demand and allows users to perform big data analysis on social media data for better understanding of their customers. The service is especially useful for brand managers, marketeers and PR professionals who want to gain insights from social media but do not want to pay a monthly subscription fee. The communication managers of today are looking for relevant and up-to-data information about their customers and/or fans as well as what their competitors are doing.
Of course there are already many more social media analytic startups that offer insights from social media. Statilizer does have a unique feature however, which is that users do not get insights from social media in a constant stream, but only on-demand. Statilizer offers a pay-as-you-go model.
In order to start using Statilizer, a user needs to connect his or her personal Facebook account to the account just created. Apparently Facebook is the only social network that can be checked, which is a bit of a bummer as the homepage of Statilizer suggests that more social network can be included. However, after registration it is only possible to build a competitors report of Facebook pages. Users pay with credits for a report, but it is unclear where the amount of credits to be paid is based upon.
The dashboard also allows seeing a few free reports that give more insight. One report shows the metrics of the Facebook pages of 10 different airline companies. The dashboard works fast and instantly, although it does require quite some data. However, the amount of analyses that can be shown is overwhelming. With over 400 different analyses it becomes difficult to choose the most relevant analysis and a bit of help would be appreciated.
Statilizer was launched in November 2012 and they promise that more reports, such as timeframe analysis of a Facebook page, are coming. Sure is that there is a lot of more work to do the coming periods. They have not yet won any awards or have any patents (pending). Therefore, we give Statilizer a 3 bits rating, but we are sure that they will improve in the coming months.
