Semantria is a sentiment and text analytics service, co-founded by the text analytics technology provider Lexalytics in 2011. It is powered by the Lexalytics Salience engine, which is a multi-lingual text analysis engine. The text analytics software is capable of providing insight in unstructured text. It can uncover the sentiment, categories, entities, themes hidden is large text files and thus goes a lot further then simple giving text a positive, negative or neutral tag. In 2012, Semantria partnered with Zapier, to give users the ability to analyse text from over 160 leading web services such as Twitter, Gmail, Salesforce or Evernote. Visitors can even test the tool online by sampling using to form to analyse some text.
With Semantria, users can easily monitor various (social media) channels and gain a better understanding of the voice of the customer. They have developed two products. The Semantria Excel Add-in, which can be downloaded for free from the website. This product enables users to start with Semantria fast and to gain an understanding how the software works and what it can do. The Add-in is able to process five different languages (English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese). It uses a query-based categorization, using Boolean operators as well as a combination of Natural Language Processing and Statistical Frequency Analysis.
The Semantria API offers the same functionality, but users can choses from any of the 160 leading web services or own applications and connect it to the API to understand their own product or services better. They have developed seven SDKs, for Java, C++, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Javascript.
Semantria supports the largest number of languages by any single SaaS sentiment analysis vendor. In 2012, Tech World Australia awarded Semantria a five star rating after they acquired several important accoutns in retail, market research, consumer reviews and social media monitoring. They have several patents pending and up till now are completely self-fundend, with Lexalytics as a co-founder funding the big data startup.
The technology developed by Semantria can provide a lot of value for small and medium sized enterprises who want to gain a better understanding about their customers.
