RJMetrics is a hosted service over internet that allows E-commerce companies, social media organizations, SaaS vendors and online content providers to make smarter decisions using their own data. With RJMetrics companies can better understand the lifetime customer value, learn the average time between purchases of different order groups as well as the average order size per cohort group. Basically, organizations using RJMetrics can see the factors that drive their business, understand better customer behaviour and their key decision drivers.
Especially websites using Magento get additional insights with RJMetrics. It combines multiple databases from different sources. All data is extracted, transformed and loaded into RJMetrics hosted data warehouse. Although RJMetrics accesses the data securely using AuthSub, OAuth or Open ID, this can prove to be a problem for a lot of potential customers who prefer to keep their own data in their own data warehouse.
The RJMetrics data integration does however support leading relational databases such as MySQL, MSSQL and Postgres, together with NoSQL datastores like MongoDB. Also Google Analytics can be integrated as well as excel files with raw data. RJMetrics replicates the data of customers and loads it into their own data warehouse. They will then optimize the data and develop the dashboard. This can take up to 7 days to get started, which is a long time nowadays especially if you compare it to other big data startups reviewed here that can get started in just a few hours.
The data can be segmented by marketing channel, customer behaviour or any other dimension and all data is shown in graphs on the different dashboards, which are easy to understand. These graphs can show the lifetime value of customers, show your most and least profitable segments, help organizations to better position themselves and to grow and outperform any competitors. Users can give anyone they want access to their data via RJMetrics entire dashboard or just specific dashboards.
Although RJMetrics was founded in 2008, they only received $ 1.2 million in funding. Until they received their funding, they bootstrapped the company as well as became profitable. In 2012 they were named a few times as recommended or an emerging vendor, but they have not yet won any awards. They also do not have any patents.
Finally, although they have [] validated that there are many customers who are willing to pay for what we provide, as stated by co-founder Jake Stein, their pricing model is difficult as it is based on the amount of rows a user wants to analyse. So, although they have developed their product for several years now, have happy customers like the CEO of Fab.com, Big Data Startups gives RJMetrics a rating of 4 bits.
