Geckoboard is a data communication tool that connects to all your data sources and displays your most important metrics on a beautifully designed and intuitive dashboard. Geckoboard gives you instant access to your most important data, while fostering an open-minded data culture that allows for informed decision-making and increased team motivation.
At the dashboard, all information from the different data sources is summarized in order to show the key message. Combining all the different tools in one dashboard, allows companies to get a real-time update (every 30 seconds) on the health of all aspects within an organisation.
The dashboard is made of widgets, allowing users to select only that data that is most important to them. Widgets can be positioned by dragging them to a preferred location. The active developer community builds and shares new widgets.
User can share read-only versions of the dashboards with other colleagues within the organisation, so everyone is aware of the latest status of the company. Geckoboard offers the possibility to restrict access to the dashboard to certain IP addresses, making it safer to use. Geckoboard has been designed to show updates on any screen, from an iPhone to a 42 inch television. Displaying dashboard on large screens helps organizations easily communicate their key data throughout their organisation, keeping their team on the same page and gaining the focus needed for growth.
A great advantage of Geckoboard is that you can upload also raw local data, to combine it with the different online tools you are using. When you are creating the dashboard, there are many possibilities and features, but you do not get confused while setting it up. All works pretty straightforward and users can even adjust the styling with custom CSS.
Geckoboard is perfect for small and medium enterprises who want to know all about their statistics, but who get tired of visiting the different online tools every day. Although for multi-national companies the widget might be too simple, it can give also Fortune 500 companies a quick overview of whats going on. At the time of writing, Geckoboard does not have any patents (pending) but they did win the Smarta100 Awards in 2012. Furthermore, they have a few nominations received as well. Big Data Startup is impressed with the many possibilities that Geckoboard offers and the extensive list of tools that can be implemented. Therefore we give Geckoboard a 7 bits rating.
