Big Data Privacy – EU’s New Privacy Law – Video

The EU Parliament Committee on Tuesday approved broad legislation aimed at providing greater data protection for Internet users in the wake of the revelation of the US PRISM program. The new data-protection legislation empowers users to demand from companies that deal with personal data to fully erase that data. Business would be required to employ data protection officers and European courts need to approve before data from European citizens can be given to the US government. This video from the Financial Times already showed the tensions between privacy campaigners and business over the draft rules that are now approved.
