IKANOW is a Big Data startup that has developed an Open Source Software Analytics platform, that allows users to perform deep analytics in their data to find hidden patterns and trends. The data can be structured and unstructured including social media, file repositories, blogs, chats etc. IKANOW combines different data sets into a unified view.

Their platform is called Infinit.e and is available for free on Github. Next to that they also offer an enterprise edition, which is based on annual subscription license with support and is based on a per server basis. The objective of IKANOW is to help organisations with knowledge discovery and analytics to help customers solve problems easily and quickly.

They target the finance industry, insurance industry, law enforcement and government to discover insights in their data, and keep their data secure, by combining social media and web content with traditional data repositories in a cost-effective and scalable way. IKANOW was founded in 2010 by Chris Morgan and Dave Camarata, who obtained their experience by working with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community for a few decades. They are currently self-funded, have no patents (pending) and not yet won an award.

Their community edition allows users to learn the Infint.e platform and they have created several partnership with some of the largest Big Data vendors, including Hortonworks and Cloudera. With some large customers they have the potential to become a large player, but at the moment they are still relatively small. Therefore we give them a 5 bits rating.
