Datafloq enables anyone to contribute articles, but we value high-quality content. This means that we do not accept SEO link building content, spammy articles, clickbait, articles written by bots and especially not misinformation. Therefore, we have developed an AI, built using multiple built open-source and proprietary tools to instantly define whether an article is written by a human or a bot and determine the level of bias, objectivity, whether it is fact-based or not, sentiment and overall quality.

Articles published on Datafloq need to have a minimum AI score of 60% and we provide this graph to give more detailed information on how we rate this article. Please note that this is a work in progress and if you have any suggestions, feel free to contact us.

The data industry is worth more than $270 billion U.S. dollars. Coincidentally, and somewhat ironically, the automotive industry is roughly the same, and as there are more cars in America than people, it‘s safe to say that the automotive industry is one that affects an enormous percentage of Americans. The data industry, however, affects literally everyone and we are now living permanently in a data-driven culture. Any start-up companies entering the world of commerce can cut a lot of corners by properly utilizing data that is available to them.

Data aids in streamlining processes in almost every single aspect of business, from whom to market to, to how to staff properly, to protecting capital, and pretty much everything in between. Data analysis techniques evolve almost as quickly as the software, so keeping up on trends and styles is as important as keeping up on software, but for this article we will be focusing on the latter. Here are 10 data software programs your start-up should consider investing in.

These first three are free options for those start-ups with tight budgets!

MongoDB

This database software is cloud-accessible and widely used. It provides easy readouts of data analytics and is touted for its powerful query language. Both reports and visual depictions of data can be easily created and shared via the cloud.

SQLite

SQLite is a great choice for entrepreneurs who are planning on doing a lot of remote work and enjoy the convenience of accessing data from their smartphones or tablets. It doesn’t have a particularly robust set of functions, but basic data computing is more than achievable with this program.

CouchDB

As the name would dictate, CouchDB is a database software that prides itself on accessibility from anywhere, including your couch. Forbes predicts that 70% of employees will perform a majority of their work remotely by 2025, and if your start-up plans to follow this model, CouchDB is a great, free choice for databasing.

Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft’s most advanced database software is their SQL Server program that is touted for its ease of use and high performance when it comes to data and query processing. For individuals familiar with Microsoft Access, SQL Server is a nice (and sensible) move up, and there is a free trial version.

MySQL

This program has similar offerings as to the Microsoft SQL Server and is very popular among the more edgy and forward-pushing web professionals. It’s very secure against cybercrime, which saw large spikes in 2020 amidst the pandemic-induced surge in home internet use and remote work.

Knack

Many expert with professional experience using a wide array of data programs put Knack near the top of their lists of favorites. One of the many reasons for the praise is its ability to understand data and reports from a variety of different programs and languages. For start-ups, it’s best to go with programs that allow you to work with the most clients, as it’s tough to be picky at the beginning of a company’s lifespan.

Amazon Relational Database Service

This cloud-based software offers a lot of functionality for a variety of data processing types. It’s an integrative software that works with many of these other programs and like most of Amazon’s offerings, it is very user-friendly.

Improvado

An affordable choice for larger teams with strong focuses on marketing, Improvado promises to reduce manual reporting times related to marketing by 90%. It’s very easy to use, and an understanding of databasing programming languages is only a bonus, not a requirement. The automated reports are also universally digestible, so they are worthy of being shared with anyone on your team.

IBM Informix

IBM Informix is a top-notch (and somewhat expensive, in turn) software that focuses on Online Transactional Processing to aide in market focus and to keep your team ahead of industry trends. The dashboard is easily accessible from smartphones and easy to navigate.

Altibase

Altibase also has a robust free version like the first three offerings on this list, but the paid version comes with industry-leading support, making it a very good option for any start-ups who are confident in their data abilities, but wouldn’t mind an occasional source of direction.

Trending

As is the case with anything in the tech
industry, trends come and go quickly, so it’s important not to get too stuck in
your ways, especially as a start-up. Try multiple databasing solutions, listen
to mentors, and make changes accordingly!
