SRE / DevOps Lead

Location:  Charing Cross, GB /
May 31, 2023

APPLYCompany: LinuxRecruit
Skills required: Infrastructure, Other, Strategy
Technologies required: AWS, Go, Kubernetes, Puppet
Date: May 31, 2023

Moving jobs can cause apprehension, it can also be a worrying thinking who you might end up working with, are they good enough, do they follow the same principles as you, could you share a beer with them in an evening, or will they put your stapler in jelly….
In an unique turn of events, we're looking for two people, a Lead/Manager and a trusted Lieutenant, who are already working together (or have worked together previously) to form a new SRE team. It will be working for a mid sized start up (120) in London.
We're offering the opportunity for a Lead Engineer to set process and strategy and an SRE to help them put the plans in action. The Lead will still be very hands on and just be slightly more experience than the SRE.
You'll have the opportunity to shape and define the DevOps and SRE practice moving forward and will have the opportunity to bring a trusted lieutenant along with you. You'll be a smart pair of cookies, will understand how each other works, and will compliment the good work each of you can deliver. You know the competencies and you know each other are a safe pair of hands.
Overall its an opportunity to continue building upon an infrastructure that is very advanced and sophisticated, utilising Containerisation, working with advanced cloud strategies with AWS and heavy users of Puppet.
The future of the SRE function will be in your hands, you'll have the opportunity to implement process, procedure and strategic direction. If you want to implement Kubernetes over Mesos, then go for it. If you want to build rather than buy, them it's your choice. The strategic future of the team is entirely up to you.
As the Lead you'll also have responsibility for an existing mid level DevOps who is remotely based and corporate IT will also replirt to you. The team is going to continue to grow so now is a good time to enter that conversation.
Please get in touch with us directly on tony.chapman@linuxrecruit.co.uk, apply to the role, or register your interest for a further conversation. Apply as an individual and introduce me to your ally, if you wish to be considered together.
