Location: UK role, currently remote, then a mix of working from home and FT office in London
after April 2022
The FT is looking for a software engineer to join a new Code Management team to help us
build and operate our source control, continuous integration, continuous delivery and package
management capabilities. The team will enable other technology teams at the FT to deliver system
changes frequently, safely and cost effectively.

What you will work on
Analyse the ways tech teams at the FT build, test, package and deploy their systems, so
that we can understand common pain points encountered during software delivery
Develop solutions that address key pain points in the software delivery tool
Provide self-service APIs, tools and support that enable our tech teams to deliver
changes into production frequently, safely and efficiently.
10% time – a half day every week to work on your own projects and develop your

Experience with any of the following tech would be useful. We don’t expect you to have
worked with all of these but if you have experience with some it will be a bonus.

Key responsibilities of the role
Work as part of a small team using modern engineering practices including simple
design, test automation, continuous delivery, defining infrastructure as code and service
Provide support to technology teams at the FT, helping them use code management,
continuous integration and package management tools effectively.
Be responsible for the development of high quality software – from idea through to
delivery into production.
Understand that operating systems in production effectively is just as important as

Strong programming and engineering skills.
Good understanding of the principles of effective source control, building quality in,
continuous integration, continuous delivery & managing infrastructure as code.
A bias towards test driving solution development.
Taking ownership of outcomes and sharing technical knowledge within the team.
Feeling responsibility for ensuring systems are available and operating well.
Understanding of risk, cyber security and governance functions and building secure
