Software Engineer, Didcot, 35,000pa – 45,000pa plus benefits:
An amazing opportunity has arisen for a talented Software Engineer who is a Masters or PhD level graduate to join a leading high-tech manufacturer in the Didcot area of Oxfordshire. This Software Engineer role will be working in a high performing Software Engineering team who are developing cutting edge software for scientific instrumentation.
The Software Engineer will work on the estimation, design, planning as well as programming, testing and documentation of cutting-edge software. You will have the opportunity to work with engineers and scientists in finding technical solutions which may involve both hardware and software components.
You will work on projects that involve programming windows applications in C++ and .NET. It also includes control of lasers and other hardware, e.g. via serial communications protocols. Our The software contains some complex logic and mathematical elements, including 3D geometry and mathematical modelling.
The Software Engineer role will suit someone with at least 3-4 years of programming experience (or equivalent), and someone who really wants to develop their software / programming career in hi-tech industry. Ideally you will be educated to Masters or PhD level in Computer Science, Engineering, or Science with knowledge and experience of C++ on Windows. The Software Engineer will work as part of a cross functional team developing new and existing products using C++ & VB.NET. Key experience:
- PhD in Computer Science or similar subject
- C++
- Windows programming Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous but is not essential
- VB.NET
- WinForms
- Mathematical modelling
- 3D geometry
- Subversion
- Unit testing
- Regression testing
- Multi-threading
- Embedded software
