Customer Solutions Senior Solutions ArchitectAbout The RoleThe Senior Solutions Architect will support the delivery of customer facing solutions for the Electricity Systems Operator (ESO), using, but not limited to the Salesforce platform. The role will support several ESO delivery teams by co-ordinating with Product / Technical Architects to deliver end to end solutions for internal teams, external market participants and stakeholders.The preferred candidate will have experience of working closely with platform and security architects, functional consultants and product delivery teams to deliver value driven solutions for customers. This role will also involve supporting and collaborating with architects from other portfolios / products.Key ActivitiesThe key activities that we expect the Senior Solutions Architect to complete are as follows:* Ensure solution development designs and technical delivery conforms to programme and platform objectives and vision* Support the approval of the solution architecture and technical design through relevant governance processes* Lead development of solution and technical architectures, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers* Take responsibility for technical integrity, ensuring that common technical elements are recognised (e.g. products), and that work is not unnecessarily duplicated* Assist in the development of service level agreements and any associated service guarantees* Monitor technical progress, ensuring that co-ordination and change control are applied to technical specifications and to the technical infrastructure* Advise on the impact of changes to the programme and on the process for assessing such impact* Identify dependencies and maintain an awareness of ongoing portfolio change. Understand timescales and roadmap of other programmes, systems etc.* Work with Domain, Security and Technical Architects to ensure technical standards and security compliance* Work closely with development teams to ensure products are developed and delivered to meet overall solution objectives* Inform technical leadership and/or project management of major technical issues and makes recommendations for resolutionAttributes and experience* Motivated / self-starter able to produce solutions / design that are positioned appropriately * Creative problem-solver* A mindset able to accept that there may be a high level of uncertainty with discovery work, but able to produce detail design documents which will require thorough analysis and peer review * Good attention to detailKnowledge and Skills Requirements Excellent technical architecture skills, enabling the creation of future-proof, complex global solutions Demonstrable track record in delivery of solution and technical architecture for programmes of work Good presentation and stakeholder management skills, able to report and communicate appropriately, able to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience Good time-management and multi-tasking skills Knowledge and experience in IT methodologies and life cycles that will be used Familiar with solution implementation/management, service/operations management, etc. Maintains close awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application for service offerings and products.Required Experience Extensive experience in a similar role, ideally with Salesforce platform Degree education in an appropriate subject Knowledge of security standards (the Electricity System Operator operates in a highly secure multi-site environment with disparate systems) Awareness of IT governance and processes Understanding of IT architecture standards Experience in both waterfall and agile development approaches, including experience in designing and developing software components and solutions as productsDesired Experience Knowledge of the British electricity market Experience working on Salesforce implementation projects with end-to-end implementation experience with the Salesforce platform from a technical/solution perspective Experience in Salesforce Service and Communities Cloud, with end-to-end implementation experience, including integration Background in front-end technologies (such as Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML/CSS) and/or back-end capabilities (Apex and Apex Classes) would be advantageous Experience with Release Management, Source Control, and Deployment concepts and technologies such as BitBucket, ANT, GIT, Jenkins, SVN Experience of working with integration technologies such as Mulesoft API/ESB, Oracle Experience of integrating with customer identity management solutions would be advantageous
