Primary Responsibilities:
- Working with Software Engineering teams; evaluate performance specifications, develop performance testing plans and gather requirements to implement such plans. This includes automation requirements and data requirements to simulate load for different parts of the application.
- Identify key performance indicator of the application.
- Analyze performance results, a load test generates a large quantity of data, this role requires ability to create reports around this data. A combination of statistical understanding of metrics such average, percentiles, time series, trends is needed.
- Provide timely feedback to software engineering teams to help define and drive performance engineering decisions to ensure the stability, reliability and availability of applications and services
- Create and maintain performance engineering load simulation scripts
- Create and maintain data generation scripts
- Analyze all aspects of existing application infrastructure and recommend modifications that will enhance application reliability, availability and scalability
- Engage in capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning
- Performance analysis using APM and other monitoring tools to identify system performance issues and bottlenecks
- Work with log aggregation tools like Splunk and ELK
- Analyze dump files and error codes
- Provide Root Cause Analysis
- Troubleshoot, research and analyze complex problems
- Provide Support for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
- You will be involved in solving moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analysis
- You will provide explanation and information to others including Senior Leadership on challenging issues
- You will identify / quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems
- You will maintain awareness of current technology assets, and the applicability and capability of each
- Participate in on – call rotation maintaining application availability
- Other responsibilities as determined necessary

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience as a performance engineer or related area
- 1+ years Loadrunner experience or Jmeter experience or similar load testing tool
- 1+ years Splunk experience, ability to write complex searches, extract fields using regular expressions, understanding of stats and other aggregation command
- 1+ years Scripting Experience (Powershell, Bash, Ruby, Python etc.)
- 1+ years of experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure problems in an enterprise environment
- 1+ years Knowledge and understanding of statistics concepts average, percentiles, time series, trends, outliers
- 1+ years Ability to communicate analysis including trends and opportunities to improve service availability
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Splunk, advance understanding of the Splunk query language
- Any relevant industry certifications
- APM experience with New Relic, Dynatrace or equivalent

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
