The engineer will work on a common benefits service, providing a gateway to several medical member benefits APIs. This service is foundational to Price Care, enabling accurate cost estimates for a variety of medical procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
An ideal candidate would have strong Scala knowledge, especially creating Scala microservices for complex web and mobile applications.
Also valuable is previous experience leading projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ability to deliver professional level technical work in support of the development of company products, tools, platforms, and services
Architect and build scalable systems, libraries, and frameworks
Write backend code using Scala
Develop APIs and web microservices
Integrate third-party APIs, and the ability to understand them in several formats
Produce and deploy secure code

Required Qualifications:
4+ years of real industry experience
Background in Scala/Java or another compiled language
Unit testing experience (prefer Scalatest / Spec2 / ScalaCheck)
Database and caching experience, SQL and NoSQL
Knowledge of REST/HTTP and backend systems
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical role
Expert-level experience in Scala/Java or another compiled language
Commercial experience with distributed, high-performance systems
Experience with Postgres and Elasticsearch
Experience with cloud-based services and hosting (AWS, EC2)
Familiarity with API platforms such as Mashery or Kong
