Senior Software Engineer – HIP
The Heterogeneous Interface for Portability (HIP) is AMD’s dedicated GPU programming environment for designing high performance kernels on GPU hardware. HIP is a C++ runtime API and programming language that allows developers to create portable applications on different platforms
AMD is looking for a highly talented software engineer to join our HIP (Heterogeneous Interface for Portability) runtime team to develop new features and capabilities, porting to new AMD hardware as well as implementing AMD specific hardware optimization. You will work with various teams across multiple layers of software from kernel, middleware, and applications to resolve issues.
The position provides the capability to realize technical knowledge and skills while learning new ones via research, development, and maintenance of HIP software. The latter provides support for above mentioned software to fully utilize AMD hardware capabilities.
The candidate should have good social, verbal and written communications skills, mentor junior colleagues; at the same time self-starter, independent and capable to work with minimal direction.
The focus will be on developing and supporting HIP programming language.
- Design and develop new features
- Develop unit tests and micro benchmarks
- Update documentation and programming guide
- Reproducing issues, debug, and fix
- Bring up new GPUs
- Strong C/C++ programming skills.
- Experience with GPU programming
- Compute languages (HIP, CUDA, OpenCL, OpenMP)
- Linux or Windows Systems/Driver level development
- Multithreading and parallel programming
- Familiarity with GIT and cmake build scripting
- Bachelor or Master of Science in relative area
- PhD is a definite asset
