About this role:
Online Advertising might not be the World's sweetheart, but our mission is to keep the Internet free of charge while respecting data privacy. Probabilistic user matching algorithms are at the center of ID5's core identity solutions. Those algorithms are based on machine learning technologies and we are currently intensifying our engineering strategy in this area by broadening our Data Science team. As a Backend Engineer, you will develop new products, redesign and scale existing features, and perform research and testing on Product concepts. You will actively participate in all stages of a feature or product’s life by working closely with fellow engineers and the product team.
Your responsibilities and functions:
- Work closely with Product to design and develop new features or update existing functionalities to strengthen ID5's universal ID solution in our HTTP API, backend data processes or even sometimes HTML-UI
- Collaborate with other development team members, infrastructure engineers and data scientists to drive technical excellence and thrive the product offering
- Participate in code reviews as both a reviewer and submitter
- Scale the JVM-based backend, Apache Cassandra and Elasticsearch/Kibana to handle an order of magnitude traffic volume
- Support our internal and external users
Your qualifications
- Several years of work experience, preferably in a highly scalable technology environment
- An educational background in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar quantitative field
- Enjoys collaborating with others and has excellent communication skills
- Strong knowledge in Java or another language of the JVM (Groovy, Scala, …), Databases (Cassandra, SQL) and Data processing frameworks (Spark, Elastic Stack)
- Loves learning about new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company to grow the product and development environment
- Comfort working in a small, highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
