Build a brand new platform for one of the largest and most successful retail organisations in the UK as a Senior Java Developer.
As one of the first engineers in a newly built team, you will build the next generation platform, powering the wider business and overall progression of the company working in a modern, agile environment.
As a Senior Developer, you will write well-structured code as well as understand and be able to be involved in important decisions regarding architecture and infrastructure alongside your team.
You will build a powerful set of microservices that are consistent, highly usable, reliable and performant in a Java 8 environment with a heavy focus on TDD and Continuous Integration building RESTful services. You will also work in a modern serverless environment with AWS Lambda.
As well as strong Java experience it's important in this position that you are someone who has a solid understanding of working in a DevOps environment, building projects from end to end and comfortable with a growing team where you will mentor and guide more junior developers.
As a Senior Developer, you will be key in the critical decisions and development in this team and in the success of the overall business. This is a position where you will have a great deal of autonomy when writing clean, well-structured code but also work collaboratively alongside experienced engineers within a modern engineering mindset.

As well as working in a collaborative environment with your team and the overall business the team have a strong focus on a pair programming approach
