Scientific Data Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated scientific data engineer to join the Medicine Design IT department at our Stevenage, UK location.
As part of this this team you will work across various departments in the organization and business partners across GSK to deliver on strategic initiatives that enhance usability, enable new workflows and capability with a critical focus on process improvement and data governance using informatics solutions.
The individual we are looking for is a problem solver and a self-starter that can suggest design and improvements to informatics solutions to support and accelerate the drug discovery process. The individual should also have a good understanding of modern software development tools and experience in a scientific discipline.

- With good data governance and software engineering practices design and develop capabilities in new or existing tools to support business requirements and strategy.
- Work alongside other data scientists, software engineers, and scientists within the organization to understand problems, ensure alignment and overall visibility
- Work in a matrix organization and be able to coordinate and communicate effectively across large user groups
- Ability to understand and translate business requirements into software / system requirements.
- Work flexibly in both agile and waterfall development methodologies.
- Develop informatics solutions to support business workflows and digital transformation initiatives using modern tools
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- BS in a scientific or technology discipline
- Experience in application development, preferably in Science, Engineering or Data domains.
- Experience in System diagnostic and fault finding
- Experience in project planning/management
- Problem Solving skills
- C# – 2 years min preferred, but Java or similar experience considered
- .NET Core/.NET Framework
- Unit & Integration Testing

- MS or PHD in a scientific or technology discipline
- Requirements elicitation/process mapping
- Cloud computing
- Documentation writing
- Informatics/ Data Analysis
- Data Visualisation
- Automated System Testing
- Experience of Automated builds / Azure devops
- Design/System Architecture
- Agile Framework/Methods
- Other programming and Scripting languages
