Who We Are:
The Petroluem Products Research Department provides analytical and physical testing required by clients and other SwRI departments to evaluate and qualify all fuels, lubricants and functional fluids. Specification testing, independent programs, and tailored research programs are available.
Objectives of this Role:
- Assume project management and business development responsibilities according to the requirements of the Petroleum Products Research Department.
- Provide technical support to both internal and external client test requests.
- Continous learning, education, and professional development.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Understand and meet client needs for engine oil, ATF, and other testing, answer technical questions regarding modified test conditions, and new testing.
- Will work with Supervisors and Technicians to create effective solutions to Lab issues.
- Support the PPRD Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management Programs, and participate in promotional efforts through memberships in professional organizations and technical presentations.
- Participate in ASTM committees and comply with all safety rules
- Work with the Administrative Group to ensure that client test requests are scheduled and reports are completed in a timely manner.
- Prepare, present, and follow up on research proposals.
- Review, validates, and initiate reruns of sample results for clients.
- Plan, design, coordinate, and control the progress of project work to meet client objectives.
- Organize and direct project activities and coordinates efforts of the project team.
- Asume responsibility for technical, financial and project completion goals.
- Provide recommendations to management on ways to improve planning, program development, project and promotional efforts.
- Exercise considerable latitude in determining methods and approaches to complex issues.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Chemistry
- Shift work required
- 3-8 years: related professional-level work experience in industry
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Must have a work history of good working relationships with clients
- Must have the ability to motivate team members and practice good team-building principles
- Technical expertise in developing and leading projects, assuming responsibility for technical efforts and growth of others, and developing creative, innovative solutions to problems.
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
- Knowledge of test procedures in the petroleum industry is preferred
- Must be able to adjust work schedule to work other shifts if necessary
- A valid/clear driver's license is required
