Data Scientist for a logistic organisation based in Cambridge, the role is a remote and allows a lot of flexibility. The team is built up of engineers and scientist from all backgrounds. Smart, passionate and eager to learn.
Role:
- You will work within the data science team to develop solutions to business problems using discrete event simulation and optimisation techniques. In this role, you have the opportunity to cover the entire data science lifecycle, from initial exploration and experimentation to model deployment and longer-term maintenance as well as exposure through APIs and user interfaces.
Team:
- The brightest in the industry, as location is not barrier as the work is remote they have managed to get the best developers in the UK onto this team and it's a place to contribute as well as learn. There is about 90 in the team which is usually split into smaller silo team.
The Person
- You will be a problem solver above all else, open to using new technologies and have an R&D mind-set. Strong academic background
Requirements:
- Proven ability to deliver data science or numerical computing projects, ideally end-to-end including deployment and maintenance
- Excellent knowledge of Python and object-oriented programming (ideally automated testing). Experience working with numpy, pandas, sqlalchemy, simpy, numba, multiprocessing/multithreading concepts and asynchronous programming are a plus.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational database management systems
- Self-starter, pragmatic, able to execute with minimal supervision. Ability to understand how business needs steer the development of a product
- Experience with Linux environments for development and deployment is required
- Experience with simulation and optimisation is a plus
- Experience with CI/CD a plus
- Experience with cloud technologies is a plus
