Job Description
ASOS is a unique and forward-thinking company which understands the opportunities data and technology has on driving the business forward. The Commercial Planning & Optimisation tech team are responsible for providing technology solutions to support our Buying and Merchandising teams in planning, selecting and creating our products as well as managing our relationships with our suppliers.
With around 5000 new products going live every week there is huge scope to provide capabilities which allow our colleagues to improve their efficiency and make more effective decisions driving a better product offer to our fashion loving twentysomething customers.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be hands-on pushing best practice engineering processes and approaches, and driving the capabilities of the platform, ensuring continuous product improvement and ongoing development of engineers through coaching, mentoring and pairing. From problem solving to new concept ideas, you have the genuine opportunity to unleash your full potential and creativity on a variety of ASOS software projects.
What you'll be doing:
- Work as part of an enthusiastic and motivated agile development team that takes pride in delivering high-quality software into production
- Provide leadership to the engineers in the team, bringing in best practices and patterns from the wider ASOS team, and facilitate an environment of continuous improvement
- Take a test first approach from business requirements through to code
- You will continually develop and improve our code and technology, whilst playing a leadership in shaping our technical solutions
- Writing high quality code to drive company growth and effectiveness of the buying and merchandising teams who use our software
- Working along side the Engineering Manager to develop and grow our people
- Join our regular Tech Develops days to learn new things, take part in internal and external hackathons, share your knowledge and help to drive improvements in engineering
Qualifications
We'd like to meet people with:
- We are looking for self-motivated, passionate and highly engaged individual who can craft quality solutions to our end users and have these attributes:
- Experience in delivering software in an iterative, continuous delivery environment that ships value frequently
- Excellent communicator, mentor and negotiator
- Good understanding or keen interest in learning Merchandise Planning Processes (Financial & Assortment Planning, Product Lifecycle Management)
We'd love it if you have experience in building applications with;
- Latest versions of .NET Framework. .NET Standard and .NET Core (C#)
- ReactJs
- Azure Service Bus
- Azure Cosmos DB, SQL DB
- GitHub, Azure DevOps pipelines
- ATDD/BDD
- Scrum/Kanban
- Devops
It would be great if you also
- Understand a typical system landscape of a large retail organisation and dependencies on planning systems.
- Understand agile testing frameworks, providing assurance on complex integrated systems
- Have experience with administrating or configuring Merchandise Planning applications
- Good knowledge of Azure or transferable knowledge from AWS or similar
- Experience of Linux
- Experience in one or more of these languages: Java, Python, Bash or PowerShell
- Experience in using Terraform
- Experience in Azure Kubernetes Services
