About the role:
This role is a hybrid working position working remotely and from our Birmingham Digital Hub.
You will be joining the brand-new Platforms team within Enterprise digital whose goal is to make life for the development teams in other parts of the business easier by providing a set of low friction, fully managed cloud capabilities and abstracting these complexities away from the developer allowing them to focus on code and not infrastructure.
As a lead member of the Platform team (as well as being one of the first!) you will have the ability to shape the direction that we take and have a hands-on role in the implementation of this solution. Working alongside the dev ops engineers in the team, you will play a key role in reimagining productivity by shipping transformative services, tools and frameworks that serve diverse aspects of the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Lead, nurture and grow a team of engineers as we scale up to deliver on an ambitious program of work
Build patterns, services, tools, frameworks, APIs and capabilities across the full web stack that accelerate developer productivity with a security conscious mindset.
Design and develop tools that improve our continuous delivery mindset on AWS
Create reusable components and micro frontends that power our greenfield self-service portal
Design and implement patterns, services, tools, frameworks, APIs and capabilities across our AWS estate that accelerate developer productivity with a security conscious mindset.
Be a direct contributor to our CI/CD platform on AWS with a focus on removing barriers on the path to production
Manage stakeholders and carry out presentations on the work being carried out
Skills Required:
You will have hands-on experience taking requirements and designing, architecting, and implementing reusable and robust solutions.
5+ years of experience in building software products
3+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks including React, CSS/HTML, NodeJs
3+ years of experience with agile systems development methodologies
Experience using and building CI/CD pipelines
Experience with DevOps capabilities
3+ years of experience with AWS. Bonus points for experience with lambdas, API gateway, and other serverless technologies
Strong communication and presentation skills
