As Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the Development team which is responsible for the development of the companies’ mobile applications, websites, online shops and channels. The aim will be to grow these into truly market leading destinations. You will also ensure builds are stable, scalable and exceptional.
Key Responsibilities
Establish a technical strategy for the Development team.Steer the Development team towards an agreed technical vision.Evaluate and identify the best technology platforms, tools and frameworks to be used on each project.Day-To-Day Liaising with multiple product teams in order to deliver the right solutions for internal and external clients.Help to influence and push a software engineering culture based on excellence.The role is only expected to involve writing code occasionally (ie. building prototypes or showcases)Establish code reviews, assurance reviews and specification conformance testing, following the software development methodology.Run 1:1s with the team leads (your direct reports).Mentor and develop developer leads, to help them learn how to coach and manage their own teams
Skills, Experience And Aptitudes
Previous experience launching a native apps to the mass market (B2C)Experience with services built in the Cloud (GCP, AWS)Expert in version control and deployment toolsKnow how to motivate developers and report complex technical issues to senior management in a digestible formatExperience of managing budgetsExperience with Swift, Kotlin and Cloud platforms. Ideally, you’ll have JS experience, too.
