DevOps Engineer (12 Month Fixed Term – 2 days per week in Glasgow)
Head Resourcing is pleased to be partnering with one of the UK's leading pensions and mutual funds companies, currently seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join their team in Glasgow.
As part of the technology team, which plays a pivotal role in the organisation, you will ensure both internal and external users benefit from highly efficient and user-friendly applications and services. In this role, you will take ownership of advising on and developing the DevOps strategy within the wider IT infrastructure. Key areas of responsibility include release engineering, infrastructure provisioning, automation of environment builds, and promoting a DevOps culture throughout the organisation.
You will also support the development team in adopting Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) practices, ensure robust version control of all source code within a GitHub environment, and champion the automation of manual processes in alignment with Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to architect scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Automate manual processes to increase repeatability and efficiency in system deployments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance, ensuring reliability and security.
- Provide support across development, testing, and production environments.
- Implement and manage configuration management tools for consistency and control.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and address infrastructure needs.
- Uphold high standards of quality in deployments and enforce strict version control.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a related role.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in GitHub and Jenkins pipelines.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Solid understanding of Oracle and SQL databases.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration across the business.
Salary:
- Up to 60k
