Shape our future as Data Scientist
A Data Scientist role is required for Capita’s Consulting Business. Devoted to assisting their reputable, blue-chip clients across multiple sectors overcome their information management challenges and unlocking the capability of their data.
This is a home-based role requiring flexibility to travel to client sites on occasion. We’re supporting our clients as they adapt to a new world in the wake of COVID-19. We’re now recruiting for roles which will help our clients to deliver vital services and to resume business wherever possible.
What you’ll be doing:
We are looking for an individual to be part of our data science team and work on engagements with clients. This includes delivering solutions and working as part of a growing data science team within Capita Consult and Transform. You will need to be adept at interfacing with clients and understanding the commercial objectives of your work.
- Directing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models.
- Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.
- Exploring, promoting, and implementing semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and machine learning techniques.
- Leading to define requirements and scope of data analyses; presenting and reporting possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.
What we’re looking for:
You should be able to work on your own without supervision and as part of multi disciplined delivery teams. Excellent communication skills are required along with an ability to communicate with both technical and businesspeople. Experience of consultancy and working on projects from initiation to completion would be beneficial
There is a requirement to be security cleared for some activities, so you must have permanent right to work, have been in the UK for a minimum of 3 years and be willing to go through security checks.

- Python as part of Project Delivery
- Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence
- Dockerised microservice architecture and design
- JavaScript/TypeScript and React
- CI/CD pipelining
- Azure deployment and hosting
Essential Non-Technical Skills & Experience
- Customer engagement skills
- Producing solution design documentation.
- Ability to question and interrogate client data to gain insight
- Self management of workloads
- Pro-active attitude and team player
