Position Title:
Data Analyst-Remote- Farmington Hills, MI
Location : 100% Remote
Project Duration : Fulltime/Permanent
Essential Job Functions:
- Interpret and analyze the story behind data held in various application databases in order to present data extracts, reports and dashboards
- Write SQLs for data pulling from data warehouse; create reports in Pentaho and dashboards in Power BI using rapid prototyping, and interactive development
- Leverage data modeling best practices to develop, implement and support data collection systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality
- Communicate and collaborate horizontally and vertically within the organization to prioritize business information needs, assess requirements, drive progress of deliverables and identify opportunities to streamline utilizing data & analytics
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
- Define and maintain business metrics, KPIs, and calculations, as well as documentation regarding the same
- Build, test and deploy transformation logic within data warehouse using data build tools
- Review code of peers, and highlight deviations from best practices and standards
- Conduct demos to showcase the created solution for problem at hand
- Conduct BI Reviews with clients on a regular cadence
- Document technical and system specification documents for processes, perform unit tests and prepare required programs and scripts
- Identify, analyze, and interpret complex data trends or patterns on target and source systems; and define new process improvement opportunities
- Troubleshoot and provide resolutions to data and process issues

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Job Knowledge and Skill:
- 1 year of experience creating SQLs and managing large datasets inside cloud-based databases
- 2 years of experience in an analytics role
- Understanding of database management, programming, Java, XML, JSON, ETL (Pentaho) frameworks
- Working knowledge building reports and dashboards in Power BI
- Familiarity with work management and collaboration tools
- Able to manage multiple workstreams with minimal guidance while paying strict attention to detail and producing quality code
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day responsibilities
- Detail oriented, highly focused and very organized
- Ability to maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of data modeling (Star, Snowflake, 3NF, etc.) and GitHub
- Knowledge of ETL and ETL, Data Lake and data warehousing concepts
- Familiarity with work management and collaboration tools (MS Teams/Slack, Jira and Confluence)
Education, Licenses, Certificates, Registrations:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Business, IT or related fields
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge of MS Office other PC applications, ability to adapt to new technology as it becomes available
Communication Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to source, disseminate and properly apply secondary research
